The objective of the project was to recreate an identity for a restaurant that specializes in Japanese cuisines, the art of sushi. and shabu-shabu. This project called for a logo redesign, a book menu for the sushi and Japanese cuisines, a separate menu for the shabu-shabu and desserts, and business cards.
The Logo and Identity System
The logo with the three titles O-Toro known for (O-Toro, O-Toro Sushi & Shabu, O-Toro Midtown.)
The logo placed on things used for the restaurant such as the wood menu cover and T-shirts for staff.
The logo zoomed in on one side of the business card and the restaurant information on the other side for one rendition. The same but with owner contact information for the other rentition.
The Menus
The original book menu for Otoro was a book menu in a plastic booklet, so the new menu would follow the old menu's format, but with a wood book cover with the logo engraved onto it. The book menu would also contain pictures to highlight the more popular items of this restaurant.
The main food menu show pictures of the more popular items to highlight them as something that people should order if they do not know what to get.
The shabu-shabu menu was created as a separate sheet from the book menu since shabu-shabu was offered in a different room on tables with built in stoves.
Previously, there was no dessert menu to where servers would have to verbally tell customers about their dessert options. A dessert menu has been designed and placed on each table on a stand.
