These characters were created for an game concept called Skygarden Saga that I thought of in senior high school. This game takes heavy inspiring elements from Pokémon (for the base character design) and Final Fantasy (for the combat and outfit design.) All these images are hand drawn with color pencils on paper, scanned to digital, and then image traced in Adobe Illustrator into 35 tone artwork.

Tyran was born into Lunan society, which is very pacifistic. When the Temporal forces of the Hidden Land had invaded Skygarden, his entire village was killed off; leaving him as one of the last Luna. He had adapted to self-defense after dealing with the moral conflict between killing and justice. After twelve years of war, he had become the leader of the resistance that repelled Temporal forces and defeated King Drusko; bringing peace between the two continents.
Tyran fights with his trusty spear, Arceus; a weapon that can only be wielded by the descendant of the creator of the world, Tynan. He learned to fight from the original resistance leader.

Dreadnought is Tyran's childhood friend and has always stuck by his side. During the Fall of the Hidden Land, he was taken by Temporal forces and became a child soldier in order to save himself from being executed. Two years before the war ended, he had defected to the resistance to fight alongside Tyran. He is considered one of the founding fathers of Emerald City, the original home of the resistance.
Unlike Tyran, Dreadnought had learned relentless combat from the Temporal forces; being equipped with the Ifrit Launcher. He became an excellent war tactician.

Lillian aka Lilli had traveled to Emerald City after the Fall of the Hidden Land to pursue higher education at ECU (Emerald City University.) There, she had mastered archery and magic in the span of a year and combined the two to become the first Marksmage master in Skygarden. During the Era of the Storm Realm, she assisted Tyran in defeating the cult of Asteroth.
Lilli is equipped with the first bow she had ever crafted from ECU and prefers healing tactics over combat tactics. However, she is capable of fight when the moment calls for it.

Erika is one of the princesses of the Hidden Land and had become a military commander when her father decided to invade Skygarden. Although she did not support the occupation, Erika did not want to disobey her father. She had fallen in love with Tyran when they first fought against each other. During the fight at Seafloor Cavern, she and Tyran were washed away by an underwater current. After being stranded on a deserted island with Tyran and being rescued, she defected to the resistance. She and Tyran are now just friends.
Erika is one of eight siblings in the Drusko family; who are each entrusted with an elemental gear of time. When she uses the Psychic Gear of Time, she is able to call upon the other elemental gears.

Dax was born into a military family and became the captain of the Hra Pirate fleet at the age of 21. He was a part of the Hra governmental reform; changing the corrupt and thieving state into the prospering commerce capital of Chimeranaa that it is now. During the Skygarden-Chimeranaa Exchange, he had helped Tyran in bringing the two continents together after years of separation due to the Fall of the Hidden Land.
Dax is very skilled in using a broadsword and is able to conjuror water elemental magic through the Tooth of Kyogre. This is especially useful when engaging in combat at sea.

Ferdinand is the prince of the Kingdom of Iygem, but had no interest in inheriting the throne. His royal Iygem lineage prevented him from engaging in expeditions, so he would sneak out of the castle and became a skilled assassin under the alias of Butch. His cover was blown during the war between Hra and the Kingdom of Iygem and had been exiled from his home for three years. He was welcomed back to Iygem after he and Tyran reformed relationships between Skygarden and Chimeranaa.
During his time of exile, Butch had started to explore the entire continent of Chimeranaa and bought the Reverse Stabber at the Pharosh Marketplace. He always uses it in combat since it was the first weapon he had acquired outside of Iygem.

Roy is the King of Snowfault Island and is the leading scientist in the Heron technological research team. At the age of 16, he had invented a small compact cube that can store items of any size; to which his father allowed for him to help in the technological advances of Snowfault Island and their neighboring islands. During the Atlas of the Descended, Roy helped Tyran prevent Team Magma and Team Aqua from accomplishing their destructive ideas of new world order. Afterwards, Roy wished to help with developing a bullet train system in Skygarden.
Roy currently owns the patent for the Spellcaster-3000, which he is currently field testing the gloves capabilities and making adjustments when needed. The glove uses up electricity to amplify magic, but loses strength as the battery runs low.

Roku grew up in the small village of Elle that lies along the coastline of Farona Island. He was always a prankster with his friends and became a saboteur to make his pranks much more funnier with the debuffing effects. Tyran arrived in his home village during the Atlas of the Descended and Roku tried to pull a prank on him. However, Roku failed to do so; causing him to become smitten by Tyran. Although Tyran appreciates the resilience, he seems to reject Roku's romantic efforts.
Roku became skilled with a dart flute through his pranks and loves to make use of this skill in combat with the Grasswhistle. He collects different kinds of darts and learns to craft them from scratch.

Kiryno aka Funknote is Tyran's younger brother who had been separated from his family and adopted by a group of bandits during the Fall of the Hidden Land. Tyran reunited with Funknote after dealing with a group of bandits and realizing his brother was the group's leader. Tyran managed to persuade Funknote and the bandits to give up their mischief and join forces to strengthen the resistance efforts in pushing Temporal forces out of Skygarden.
Funknote had acquired the Shattered Spirit during a raid of a Temporal cargo transport carrying museum treasure. Resonating with the ghostly samurai sword he is forever soul-bound to it; allowing him to control the blade shards independently or together in battle but also losing his life force as the sword takes damage.

Xena was Tyran's second in command during their time in the resistance. The two had met during a liberation of Tixa from Temporal forces where Xena had already started the uprising and Tyran happened to be in the area undercover. Since the Fall of the Hidden Land, Xena is now the head librarian of the Emerald City Master Library; a building that has all books, scrolls, and art in Skygarden. Being a bookworm, they are actively collecting more works for the library.
Xena is a very skilled sorcerer that has even the most complex spells memorized from reading dozens of spell books multiple times. Utilizing the Captivating Charm to channel their magic allows Xena to cast additional debuffs with attacks.

Kenta was born as the hollow reflection of his brother and is one of the heirs to the throne of Castle Twilight. Kenta was separated from his family during a visit to Skygarden right before the Fall of the Hidden Land and was able to survive after being adopted by the resistance. During Tyran's time as resistance leader, Kenta assisted in weapon development. After the Fall of the Hidden Land, Kenta returned to the Storm Realm and accepted his long-awaited place on the throne.
Being born a creature of the Storm Realm, Kenta was born with psychic abilities but no movable appendages; leaving him to use Twilight flames as his arms. He uses the shaman wands Lightning and Thunder that were fashioned by the old resistance leader to resist burning in flames of Twilight.

Ryu has a rare genetic mutation where he shows traits of both his parents species as opposed to the usual one or the other. He was born during the Fall of the Hidden Land but lived a relatively peaceful life. During the Era of the Storm Realm, the Cult of Asteroth ravaged through his home village of Cygnus; killing both his parents and allowing Asteroth to possess his right arm. Ryu was rescued by Tyran during the attack and helped defeating the Cult of Asteroth. Ryu hopes for the day where he can free himself from Asteroth's grip.
After the Cult of Asteroth used Ryu as a sacrifice to Asteroth, the demon possessed his right arm and bounded him to the Soul of Groudon which had manifested itself into a shackle and scimitar.

Although he may not look like one, Drakken is actually a scientist that studies the life and species in the region of Holon that might have originated from the planet Delta. He currently helps Tyran as part of the Andrometropolan Ultra Space Squad; researching extraterrestrial planets and dimensions. The first proof of alien life is his alien summon companion, Tzitzimitl, a Milotic star being that roams outer space and might be linked to solar eclipses. He has other extraterrestrial findings as summons and keeps their summon orbs around his waist.
In battle, Drakken uses the Will-O-Wisp to cast magic attacks, but when the time calls for it, he will summon Tzitzimitl or other alien beings to fight alongside him. Due to his extensive studies, he has knowledge of all the abilities each alien can perform.

After crash landing his spaceship onto Skygarden, Garrogka had met Tyran and Dreadnought during a meteor shower. Garrogka is an ex-prince of a city on planet Delta, located next to the Earth and was using his ship to escape his execution after being usurped by his sister. After having Drakken fix up his ship, Garrogka took Tyran and his friends on a trip to explore the Ultra Space and discover new planets and dimensions. Right before returning to Earth, Tyran and friends helped Garrogka reclaim his throne and the two planets formed an alliance.
Garrogka had trained in hand-to-hand combat in many different regions back on Delta. While escaping his home planet, he had stolen the royal family battle chains, the Nocturne Shackles. Unlike the Terran battle chains, the Nocturne Shackles are made of solid flames, which seemed to be an impossible concept before his arrival in Skygarden.

Joanne is of Hidden Land lineage but was born in the ninja town of Ecruteak Village. Her family had emigrated during the Fall of the Hidden Land in secret because they did not support what their king was doing; renouncing their citizenship to fight alongside with the resistance. Joanne was born during the war and mastered the Ecruteakan ninjitsu style by the age of 15. After the war, she assisted in taking down the Cult of Asteroth with Tyran.
Even though the war had ended, Joanne continued her training in becoming a Kunoichi. After finishing up her study, she was gifted the Light of Ruin by her sensei as a graduation present. Unlike most ninjas who use wooden blocks in replacing their bodies to avoid attacks, Joanne uses Buneary and Lopunny dolls.

Luiz is not only a master at the bow and arrow, but also a skilled and reliable merchant. Wherever Tyran seems to go, Luiz is almost going to cross paths with him. Even during hard times of the Fall of the Hidden Land, Tyran had found encounters with Luiz to be a saving grace. Surprising to Tyran, he even was there while traveling the different planets and dimensions of Ultra Space; coming across Luiz by random in alien lands. After trading and dealing items to Tyran, Luiz would even tag along since Tyran is his most loyal customer and would do anything to ensure his safety.
When in battle, Luiz uses his godlike weapon, Odin's Will. The arrows that he uses will always hit his opponent. Not only are his shots super accurate, but the arrows deal a massive blow; causing calamitous damage with just one arrow .
